Editor's note: — Because of a scheduling conflict, the discussion between Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders about health care and bipartisan efforts to tackle health care challenges was canceled for April 18.

Media are invited to the University of Kansas on April 18 to cover a discussion between Kansas Sen. Roger Marshall and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. The two lawmakers will be speaking to a student audience about health care and bipartisan efforts to tackle health care challenges at 7 p.m. at the Dole Institute of Politics.

The Dole Institute of Politics is hosting the two lawmakers to discuss working “across the aisle” on their legislation to address access to primary care across America.

Last September, Marshall and Sanders announced bipartisan legislation to address the primary care crisis throughout the country, which includes major shortages of nurses, primary care doctors and other important health care jobs. The legislation will also increase funding for community health centers, the National Health Service Corps and Teaching Health Centers.

Although the discussion is targeted toward a student audience, limited seating will be available to news media wishing to cover the event. The event will not be livestreamed.
