Students will share work at 29th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium
LAWRENCE — The Center for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships will host over 150 students, both online and in person, presenting their research and creative works to faculty, staff, peers and the public. Students across the University of Kansas have been conducting research and creating all year long, either independently, contributing to a faculty member’s project or creating something new with the guidance of a mentor.
The 29th Annual Undergraduate Research Symposium gives these students the opportunity to present their work during Undergraduate Research Week. Students are given the option to present in-person oral presentations or artist talks from 2:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. April 23, followed by a closing ceremony honoring this year’s mentor award winners. Additionally, two poster sessions will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. and from 3:15 to 4:15pm April 24 in Gray-Little Hall.
Students across academic disciplines at KU can get involved in research as early as their freshman year and have conducted research with faculty across the Lawrence, Edwards and KU Medical Center campuses.
“As a top-50 research institution, KU is honored to support such incredible collaborative work among experts and students, supporting the nation's future leaders in their fields,” said Mulu Lemma, director of the Center for Undergraduate Research & Fellowships.
Along with the in-person events, there is an online oral and poster session event available to view starting at 8 a.m. April 20. Students from a variety of disciplines have pre-recorded their presentations for public viewership, receiving feedback from faculty and peers allowing students to consider future directions of their work.
