University announces 2024 Staff Fellows

LAWRENCE — The University of Kansas has announced participants selected for the 2024 Staff Fellows Program, which seeks to strengthen the university by developing leaders at all levels of the institution.

The Staff Fellows Program offers KU employees an opportunity to build their leadership skills, gain experience to advance their careers and work together on a strategic campus project that benefits the university. Each participant is matched with a mentor from KU’s senior leadership.

“Staff Fellows participate in skill and leadership development, and through the program they gain broader knowledge and a deeper understanding of the university,” said Mike Rounds, vice provost for operations and chief human resource officer.

The Office of the Provost and Human Resource Management jointly coordinate the Staff Fellows program, with a review committee selecting the participants. Sixteen Staff Fellows were selected this year.

“Our investment in transformative leadership initiatives like the Staff Fellows program is an investment in the future of KU,” said Barbara Bichelmeyer, provost and executive vice chancellor. “By developing as leaders and building connections across the university, our Staff Fellows are well positioned to make lasting contributions throughout their careers.”

Using emerging tools, including the recently released master plan, the 2024 Staff Fellows cohort will research and evaluate current perceptions and processes associated with space management at KU. The Staff Fellows will provide a summary of their research and findings with recommendations as to what, if any, modifications should be made regarding space allocation processes and perceptions of how spaces are managed at KU, including updates to space management policies as needed.
