KU Ombuds Office adds part-time staff member

LAWRENCE – Mike Rozinsky will bring more than 20 years of experience and knowledge in conflict resolution and organizational development to the University of Kansas Ombuds Office, where he will serve as associate ombuds starting this month. He will work on a part-time basis each week to support the office by meeting remotely with campus constituents.

Mike Rozinsky“Mike’s experience and expertise in alternative dispute resolution, facilitation, mediation and coaching will complement and expand the capacities of the Ombuds Office,” said Ada Emmett, acting university ombuds. The University Ombuds Office offers confidential, independent, informal and impartial spaces to the KU community to discuss issues they may be facing. “His unique set of skills and warmth of style will be a strong addition to our efforts to support students, staff and faculty.”

Throughout his career, Rozinsky has partnered with organizations and individuals to create influence through a variety of techniques and practices. He is skilled in conflict management and resolution, organizational development, facilitation, mediation, visual illustration and storytelling, communication, coaching, meeting and program design, as well as change enablement practices and workshops. Together these practices draw out options that help empower people to achieve awareness and alignment while also realizing personal, team, department and organizational goals.

Rozinsky will meet with visitors to the Ombuds Office, offer workshops and training on various aspects of conflict transformation, and consult with Emmett and other colleagues to support the office’s work.

In addition to his experience in the field, Rozinsky is a masters candidate in conflict resolution at the University of Massachusetts Boston (UMB). In 2020, he was recognized with the Donald Paulson Service Award in the Department of Conflict Resolution, Human Security and Global Governance at UMB. This award recognizes outstanding services in conflict resolution, both within the program at UMB and to the wider conflict resolution field.
